Sorry for the absence. This has been a trying couple of years. Both our dogs died. Abe got a job in my home town, so we moved across the country and lived with my mom for a few months, then moved into town (Bellingham, Washington). I started teaching at Western Washington University a little bit. It has been hectic! But we are getting back into something like a schedule.
Abe is in his "summer vacation." He is a 10-month employee at WWU, which means he gets two months off in the summer. It has been lovely. But I spent most of the first month teaching a comics class at WWU. It was very fun and inspiring, but it took a lot of time to get ready.
So without further ado, here are the two projects we are working on. The dog book was too painful, but might be what we work on next; and the duck book requires more research than we anticipated. So we are making The Pond Book (working title). It is sort of a meditation on Abe's three years photographing Lily Pond on the hill behind our apartment in White River Junction, VT. It made a big impression on him. It is a combination of essays and photos from Abe, supplemented with comics and illustrations by me.
And I am going to work on Cob (working title). I did 33 pages back in the summer of 2014, and have since revised the entire story. There are 5 pages of the new version done. Now I am adding in some more scenes to finish fleshing out the story. Then I can get back to thumb nailing and penciling. Then inking. And maybe gray wash. I never know how I feel about that.
